Kae Tempest and Dimitrij Schaad. Having Spent Life Seeking.
Gespräch in englischer Sprache; Lesung auf Deutsch
Kae Tempest is multi-talented when it comes to words: song lyrics, poetry, prose, plays – there is no form of text that the prize-winning musician and author does not excel at. Following the release of his debut “The Bricks That Built The Houses” in 2016, he was celebrated as an irrepressible new political voice of English literature and was named a Next Generation Poet. Now, his long-awaited second novel, Having Spent Life Seeking, is being published. Set against the raw backdrop of the coastal city Edgecliff, Tempest tells the story of Rothko Taylor. Rothko left the small town 20 years ago – and becomes overwhelmed by the past when they return. It is a linguistically powerful story about family and forgiveness, redemption and atonement, yearning and surrender. Tempest talks about what that we are looking for when we hide – and what finds us if we allow ourselves to be seen. German text: Dimitrij Schaad; host: Senthuran Varatharajah
