lit.kid.COLOGNE celebrates reading! For and with children and young people, in the mornings for school classes and at weekends as part of the family program.

lit.kid.COLOGNE encourages reading, thinking, and discussion. Authors and other interesting and interested personalities read, talk, and discuss with children and young people on an equal footing, taking them beyond familiar horizons to discover new worlds of reading.

lit.kid.COLOGNE is diverse: fake news, AI, social media, bullying, queerness, and much more—based on powerful books, children and young people are encouraged to engage with socially relevant, current topics and opinions.

lit.kid.COLOGNE is reading fun! It takes you into enchanting worlds, fairy tales, quirky novels, wild adventures – simply colourful reading fun!
The readings at lit.kid.COLOGNE enable you to engage with your own reality, while also inviting you to travel to other realities.

Books are the basis for good conversations, developing diverse ideas, learning more, thinking further, and celebrating reading!
With this in mind – open your books! See you at lit.kid.COLOGNE!

The next lit.kid.COLOGNE will take place from March 10 to 22, 2026.

Classics, new releases, reading fun

The lit.kid family program invites children and their families and friends to join in on weekends: great authors, actors, new releases, classics, popular children's books—around 15 events at beautiful venues throughout the city.

#lassmalesen (#letsread)

For several years now, we have been running the successful #lassmalesen project as part of lit.kid.COLOGNE:

Pupils from the 3rd grade onwards have the opportunity to stage their own author reading under professional guidance
– from choosing the author and the stage design to the water glass on the lectern.

Your school can take part, too!
