To bloom in a room – Luise Wolfram and Jasna Fritzi Bauer on Virginia Woolf and new writing spaces
A room, air to breathe, personal space, free expression – or, as Virginia Woolf put it: “A woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction.” How do her musings from A Room of One’s Own hold up nearly 100 years later? University of Cologne students compare Woolf’s essay against current experiences to ponder how rooms influence our writing. They pen their own texts about rooms that support, confine or provide openings for us; about the freedom that starts when one closes the door and enters one’s own room. We cordially invite you to join us as we unbolt this thinking space between Woolf and the students – and occupy it together. With us in the room: Jasna Fritzi Bauer and Luise Wolfram, the inspector team from Bremen edition of detective show “Tatort”, who will read the resulting text collage. Our guide through the room will be host Marie-Christine Knop.
