Navid Kermani and the music of his life. With the WDR Funkhausorchester and Hasti Molavian
Music is the guiding light and the beating heart of his creative work. Early on, in his much-celebrated literary debut, “The Book of the Listeners Slain by Neil Young”, he portrayed music as an existential and life-affirming savior. Ever since, author Navid Kermani (recipient of the Peace Prize of the German Book Trade), who is also a curious and brilliant humanitarian reporter, has come back to the topic of music again and again. Music features prominently in nearly all his novels (including his latest, “Summer 24”), many of his speeches and always in his travels. For tonight’s event, he dug through his record collection and is teaming up with WDR Funkhausorchester to introduce us to his wide-ranging musical taste: from Schubert to Neil Young, from Iran to East Africa. He is supported by singer and actress Hasti Molavian, a member of the ensemble cast at Schauspiel Köln. Conductor: Enrico Delamboye
