The west of Germany is a surprisingly diverse region: Journalist, literary critic and author Christine Westermann (“The Families of Others: My Life in Books”) makes her home in the metropolis of Cologne.
Her colleague Jörg Thadeusz comes from Dortmund and created a literary tribute to that city with his book “Steinhammer”. In her novels – including “But We’re Still Sisters” and “Vielleicht hat das Leben Besseres vor” – Anne Gesthuysen travels back in time to her home region of the Lower Rhine valley. Yet, an escape from the familiar can also be healing, as Monika Peetz shows in her novels featuring “The Tuesday Ladies” and “Summer Sisters”, whose characters are drawn to the Camino, the coast of Holland or the countryside. An evening with four bestselling authors about city and country, the river, home and feeling at home. And how our region makes its way into books. Host: Roberto Cappelluti
