At work, women are increasingly in leadership positions, shaping the economy, society and politics. And yet, they often feel out of place amidst the patriarchal role models of the “boy’s club”. In Rethinking Female Power, journalist Eva Thöne explores how feminist, fair and solidarity-based action can be made possible. As chair of the Germany’s federal Green party, Ricarda Lang spent years in a position of political power, which gave her the opportunity to observe how people handle power and responsibility. Anna Sophie Herken, former manager at Allianz and board member of German international development organization GIZ, and her co-authors talked with 50 female top managers for a blunt account of their experiences in the book Machtgebiete [“Zones of Power”]. Together with host Marie-Christine Knop, and against the backdrop of a resurgent “masculinity” movement, they will analyze what became of “the future is female”, which ossified structures we can change and what female power could look in future.
