A love that never dies – with Roberto Saviano and Claudia Michelsen
Nearly 20 years ago, Roberto Saviano gained worldwide fame with his non-fiction book “Gomorrah”. For years, he had conducted undercover research amongst the Camorra organized crime syndicate in southern Italy to reveal their structures and power mechanisms. Despite ongoing threats to his life, the multi-award-winning journalist and author continues to write tirelessly about the reality of the Italian Mafia, its victims and the people who stand up to it. His new novel L'amore mio non muore [“My Love Never Dies”] is also based on a true story: In 1977, a young woman from Florence falls in love with a student from Calabria – unaware that he comes from one of the most powerful families in the ’Ndrangheta. Driven by idealism, she follows him to his home village, convinced that she can break through the spiral of silence and violence with courage and truthfulness. But then she disappears without a trace. German text: Claudia Michelsen; host: Paola Barbon
