GEORGI GOSPODINOV: DEATH AND THE GARDENER
with Georgi Gospodinov Harieta Braun Guy Helminger Navid Kermani
Bulgarian writer GEORGI GOSPODINOV, born in Sofia in 1968, is one Europe’s best-known and most translated authors. His last novel “Time Shelter” won him the International Booker Prize, one of the world’s most prestigious literary awards. Newspaper Die Zeit celebrated it as “a breathtaking old-time novel about today’s world”, and The Times proclaimed it to be a “classic”. Gospodinov’s new novel, DEATH AND THE GARDENER, appeared in German and English in the summer, so is basically still hot off the press as he brings it to Cologne. It is his most personal book so far, a moving homage that looks back on his father’s life. In conversation with the hosts of the Literary Salon, GUY HELMINGER and NAVID KERMANI, he presents his latest work. Translation: HARIETA BRAUN
