The Journey to the End of History – A spy novel by Kristof Magnusson
In the early 1990s, young poet Jakob Dreiser is being celebrated in Rome for his work. The Cold War is finally history and the Russian Embassy is hosting a garden party with Crimean sparkling wine and pirozhki. The world seems to be striving for peace and happiness – and this time it almost looks as if it means it. Dieter Germeshausen, on the other hand, can hardly believe his bad luck. After years of working for the secret service and as a double agent, he now urgently needs to disappear. And, with terrible timing, he is in love for the first time. Germeshausen needs a plan and he needs Jakob Dreiser – because for his greatest coup, there can be no better camouflage than an internationally celebrated poet.
With his new novel The Journey to the End of History, Kristof Magnusson has produced a fantastically turbulent spy novel. Together with host Bettina Böttinger, he will talk about an era of historic shifts, about yearning, deceit and the great dream of adventure.
