DETENTION! Christiane Paul, Dimitrij Schaad and Tijan Sila head back to school
Little first-graders with shiny new backpacks, expectant, gap-toothed smiles, and proud parents at their side. The first day of school is one of the few experiences that we all share.
But what comes next brings up many questions: Are school days the best or worst time in a person’s life? Is school a place of learning, friendship and inner growth – or a correctional facility with disastrous restrooms? And the people who make school their profession – what do they experience with students and their parents? Why do the ominous “realities of life” apparently begin promptly when children start school?
A humorous literary exploration with writing by Thomas Mann, Karen Duve, Didier Eribon, Astrid Lindgren, Saša Stanišić, Sebastian Fitzek and others. Author and teacher Tijan Sila will lead us through this evening, with readings by Christiane Paul and Dimitrij Schaad. Concept: Sibylle Dudek
