“But I want to! I waaaaant to!” – An evening about defiance and rebels, with Anneke Kim Sarnau, Matthias Matschke and Knut Elstermann
They could, but they don’t WANT to. They should, but they don’t WANT to. They must, but they don’t WANT to. These are the rebels in literature, from ancient times to the digital age. They rebel against gods and the patriarchy, against their parents and over-zealous colleagues, and against harmless, well-meaning fellow humans. Sometimes they rebel gently and sometimes their defiance is very uncomfortable. Their behavior might go completely unnoticed, or they might end up burning down entire cities – because they know they’re RIGHT or they simply CAN’T TAKE IT! Anneke Kim Sarnau and Matthias Matschke stubbornly lend their voices to such literary rebels, from Heinrich von Kleist to Ronja von Rönne. And Knut Elstermann definitely does not need an audience to host the event in an enjoyable and persistently informative way. But come anyway – THAT’LL SHOW ‘EM!
