About Okka Gundel
Okka Gundel was born in East Frisia in 1974. The journalist and TV presenter is well known from the Sportschau, Tagesthemen and ARD-Morgenmagazin shows. She also writes essays for publications such as Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung (FAS) and Der Spiegel. As a columnist, she regularly comments for radio broadcaster Bremen2 on socially relevant phenomena from the world of sports. Her book, “11 Freundinnen müsst ihr sein” was published to coincide with the women’s soccer world cup in 2011. Okka Gundel studied French, sports studies, journalism and sociology in Paris, Göttingen and Nice and trained as a journalist at WDR. She has been an ambassador for Alzheimer’s research since 2012. She lives in Cologne with her husband and three children.
