About Klaus Modick
Klaus Modick, born in 1951, studied German language and literature, history, and education in Hamburg, earning his doctorate with a thesis on Lion Feuchtwanger. He has been a freelance writer and translator since 1984 and, after various stays abroad and teaching positions, now lives once again in his hometown of Oldenburg. He has received numerous awards for his extensive body of work, including the Nicolas Born Prize, the Bettina von Arnim Prize, the Rheingau Literature Prize, and most recently the Hannelore Greve Prize. He was also a scholarship holder at Villa Massimo and Villa Aurora. His most successful novels include Der kretische Gast (The Cretan Guest, 2003), Sunset (2011), Konzert ohne Dichter (Concert Without Poets, 2015), and Keyserlings Geheimnis (Keyserling's Secret, 2018). His most recent publications are Leonard Cohen (2020) and the novel Fahrtwind (2021), as well as (with Bernd Eilert) Nachlese. Hundert Bücher – Ein Jahrhundert (2024).
