About Jaroslav Rudiš
Jaroslav Rudiš was born in Czechoslovakia in 1972 and divides his time between Lomnice nad Popelkou and Berlin. He studied German literature and history and worked as a teacher and journalist. He now works as an author, playwright und musician. He was a Guest Professor at Humboldt University in 2012/13. For his works, he has received honors such as the Usedom Literature Award, the Chamisso Prize and the 2024 Mörike Prize. Rudiš’s works have been translated into several languages and adapted to film. He was presented with the Czech Republic’s Medal of Merit as well as the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany as “one of the most dedicated bridge-builders between Germany and Czech Republic”.
