About Feridun Zaimoglu

Feridun Zaimoglu was born in Bolu, Turkey, in 1964 and has lived in Germany since he was six months old. He studied art and medicine in Kiel and writes for the newspapers Die Welt, Frankfurter Rundschau, Die Zeit and Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung. He has won numerous accolades for his work, including the 2002 Hebbel Prize, the 2003 Jury Prize of the Bachmann competition in Klagenfurt and the 2005 Adelbert von Chamisso Prize. In 2008, he received the Corine Prize for his novel “Love Burning” as well as the Jakob Wassermann Literature Prize in 2010 and the Preis der Literaturhäuser in June 2012. He was writer-in-residence in Mainz in 2015 and received the Berlin Literature Prize in 2016. Following his best sellers “Leyla” and “Love Burning”, he more recently published “Seven Towers” and “Evangelio”.
