MICHEL ABDOLLAHI: IT’S OUR COUNTRY. WITH FATIH ÇEVIKKOLLU
Ten years after his sensational documentary “Im Nazidorf” [“In the Nazi Village”], which won the German Television Award, and five years after his Der Spiegel bestseller “Germany Defeats Me”, MICHEL ABDOLLAHI’S new book ES IST UNSER LAND [“It’s Our Country”] illuminates the depths of contemporary Germany. He paints a picture of a society in which people from migrant families are increasingly seen as foreign bodies. In conversation with Cologne-based cabaret artist FATIH ÇEVIKKOLLU, he explores the question of why right-wing thinking has suddenly become socially acceptable. He identifies inequities while showing how we can successfully turn things toward peaceful, diverse co-existence without racism or populism.
