“The whole world understands my language,” said Joseph Haydn (1732–1809), one of the greatest composers of his time. He shaped Viennese classicism like no other, and his 77 years were filled with a desire for musical experimentation. In the recent collection HAYDN!, edited by ALAIN CLAUDE SULZER, 20 renowned authors explore the life and work of this musical genius. In this revue, Sulzer and ELKE HEIDENREICH talk about the exceptional composer and listen to his music, performed live on stage by MATTHIAS LINGENFELDER (violin), CATHERINE KLIPFEL (piano) and ULRIKE ZAVELBERG (cello). An evening that combines personal and biographical elements with literary story-telling – it is sure to be highly entertaining!
