Can everyone do and say what they want? The pros and cons of freedom. With Saba-Nur Cheema, Meron Mendel and Jürgen Wiebicke

Islam, pacifism, migration, sexuality, far-right extremism. There is often an intense debate about what can be said in public and where freedom of speech ends. Is everyone really allowed to say whatever they like? Or should only those affected express their opinion? Are there taboos? When does an opinion become offensive? And what role do media and politics play? How much freedom do we need for democracy to function?
Meron Mendel, director of the Anne Frank Education Center and author of “Talking About Israel”, and Saba-Nur Cheema, political scientist and co-author of “Muslim-Jewish Dinner”, are joined by writer and host of “Philosophical Radio” Jürgen Wiebicke (“Erste Hilfe für Demokratieretter” [“First Aid for Saviors of Democracy”]) to discuss societal and political flash points. They try to bring clarity where there is often nothing but outrage. An evening about responsibility, integrity and the future of debating culture. Host: Jörg Thadeusz
