“As long as there are still people who can write songs like that, then we’re not yet lost.” Nilz Bokelberg meets Francesco Wilking from the band Die Höchste Eisenbahn
Since their debut album “Schau in den Lauf, Hase” (2012), German indie-band Die höchste Eisenbahn have delighted and moved audiences with their music. Their charming, melancholy texts about love and life celebrate subtle wordplay and ironic inflections, and have become a feature of the German musical landscape. Sometimes sad, sometimes thrilling, sometimes both at once. Today, Höchste Eisenbahn front man (alongside Moritz Krämer) Francesco Wilking talks about his writing, the history of the band, and their new album, “Wenn wir uns wiedersehen, schreien wir uns wieder an”. There is no better host to lead us through this evening than presenter and music aficionado Nilz Bokelberg. He says: “Once in a lifetime, everyone finds that one band that touches their soul. For me, it was Die Höchste Eisenbahn from their very first EP (...) As long as there are still people who can write songs like that, then we’re not yet lost.”
