About Rasha Khayat
Rasha Khayat was born in Dortmund in 1978 and spent her childhood in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Her family moved back to Germany when she was 11, and she studied comparative literature, German literature and philosophy in Bonn. Since 2005, she has worked as a freelance author, translator and lecturer. Her debut work “Because We Are Already Somewhere Else” was published in 2016. She has received numerous accolades for her work, including the Robert Bosch Foundation’s Grenzgänger Scholarship, residencies in Marseille and New York, plus the German Literary Fund’s Work Scholarship for “Ich komme nicht zurück” [“I’m Not Coming Back”]. Since 2022, she has hosted the feminist literature podcast “Fempire – der Podcast über Frauen, die schreiben” about “women who write”, which has more than 10,000 subscribers.
