“Yes, everything turned out fine. In a nasty way, everything turned out fine”. Monika Helfer and Michael Köhlmeier
Writers Monika Helfer and Michael Köhlmeier have been a couple for 40 years. Both have written excellent books and each of them has a new one coming out. Monika Helfer follows “The Riff-Raff” and “Daddy” with her novel, Löwenherz [“Lionheart”]. In it, Helfer recounts the life of her little brother and her own upbringing. With great honesty she creates an intimate portrait, a tale of caring, feelings of guilt and family ties. In Köhlmeier’s new novel a cat – Matou – asks humanity’s great questions. His life stretches from the French Revolution to the present day. He’s the Homer of cats. We’ll hear parts of both novels, but also find out what it’s like when two creatives live under the same roof, both devoted to the intimate process of writing. And we’ll discover how important a far-flung place – a house in Vorarlberg – is for the work of each of them. Host: Denis Scheck
