Karl Ove Knausgård, Thomas Loibl and the morning star

english | german

Karl Ove Knausgård’s six-part autobiographical novel cycle became a worldwide sensation. Now the Norwegian star author is back with a new book. In The Morning Star, the world as we know it is turned upside down. Crabs walk on land, rats pop up in unexpected places – the idyllic Norwegian summer is overshadowed by strange occurrences. Nine people recount their experiences during these mid-summer days: literature professor Arne, who’s on holiday with his family in a summer house; pastor Kathrine, who realizes that her marriage feels like a prison; journalist Jostein, who, on an excessive drinking binge, finds out about mysterious murders; and his wife, Turid, who works at a psychiatric institution. What none of them can explain is the appearance of a new star. Is it a harbinger of evil or a promise of something good? Host: Thomas Böhm; German text: Thomas Loibl
