Between rebellion and “It’s going to be great!” – Danielle de Picciotto meets Sven Regener
The Berlin music scene in the 1980s and 1990s has long been portrayed in literature. But what was it really like? Danielle de Picciotto and Sven Regener (“Glitterschnitter”) should know. De Picciotto came to Berlin from New York City in 1987. She became a musician and artist, sang with the Space Cowboys and met all the dazzling stars of the time: Nick Cave, Einstürzende Neubauten, Depeche Mode, WestBam, Claudia Skoda, Die Ärzte, Marusha. In 1989 she launched the Love Parade with Dr. Motte. She talks about all that in her graphic novel, The Beauty of Transgression. Sven Regener has lived in Berlin since 1982, and played with Zatopek, Die Toten Piloten, Sportlerchor and Neue Liebe before forming the band Element of Crime. With his debut novel “Berlin Blues”, he became a best-selling author with the great literature featuring Frank Lehmann and his world. Again and again, Regener circles back to the 1980s and 1990s and the music of that time. Host: Thomas Böhm
