Come in, and welcome to our shiny, brand-new Litera-ture House Salon – the place to be for North Rhine-Westphalia’s most promising young authors! Laureate David Krause is a poet and prose author, and has already been compared to cut-up icon Rolf-Dieter Brinkmann. His debut work, Die Umschreibung des Flusses, is a collection of poems that are as sensual as they are powerful. The poems of Cologne transplant Bastian Schneider sometimes convey “the sensation of severing the bonds of earth and floating free on words alone for one brief, ecstatic moment” (fixpoetry). His most recent work is the book of poems Irgendwo, jemand. Host Dorian Steinhoff introduces both laurea-tes and speaks with them about their development, their work, their awards and the inspirational power of their home cities. We will hear euphoric praise from secret admirers, and may even play a game or two.
