Olga Tokarczuk was born in 1962 in Sulechów, Poland. She studied psychology in Warsaw and now lives in Wroclaw. Her work has been translated into 37 languages. For “The Books of Jacob”, she won the most important Polish literature prize, the Nike Award, in 2015 and the Jan Michalski Prize in 2018. That same year, she won the Man Booker International Prize for “Flights”. In 2019 she received the Nobel Prize for Literature.
