Mario Vargas Llosa was born in 1936 in Arequipa, Peru. During his studies he began writing for various magazines and newspapers before his first novel “The Time of the Hero” appeared in 1963. Vargas Llosa has always been a political author and his most important works include: “The Green House” (1968), “The Feast of the Goat” (2001), “Aunt Julia and the Scriptwriter” (1982) and “The Bad Girl” (2007).Vargas Llosa has received honorary doctorates from several universities and has been a visiting professor at universities such as Harvard, Princeton and Oxford. In addition to numerous other honors, he has received The Peace Prize of the German Book Trade in 1996 and the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2010.
