Anke Engelke was born in Montreal, Canada in 1965 and grew up speaking three languages. She moderated radio and television programmes as a child, and later became a member of the “Wochenshow” cast. With eight seasons, her “Ladycracker” is considered Germany’s most successful comedy sketch format. Recent film appearances include “Happy Burnout” and “Frau Müller muss weg!”; television appearances include the improv film “Wellness für Paare” and the two-part ARD feature “Tödliche Geheimnisse": Anke Engelke is currently cast in “Deutschland 86”. The second season of this spy saga is currently being filmed. She can also be heard as the synchronised voice of a variety of roles. In her preschool television series “Die Sendung mit dem Elefanten”, Anke Engelke plays a resident of her own “Anke World”. She has also been the Mistress of Ceremonies of the Berlinale award ceremony for many years.
