Akiz, born in 1969, studied directing at the Filmakademie Baden Württemberg and now lives in Berlin. Two of his films were nominated for Student Oscars. He moved to Los Angeles in 1999, where he worked as a director, screenwriter, painter and sculptor. In 2007, he directed the film “Eight Miles High”. In 2012 he founded the production company OOO Films, whose first movie, “The Nightmare” had its world premiere at the Munich Film Festival in 2015. He is currently filming the movie “Der Froschkönig [The Frog King]”, which is set to arrive on the big screen in summer 2020. “Der Hund” [“The Dog”] is his first novel.
