Isabel Allende asks: What feeds the soul of a woman?

LIVE: English with English subtitles I ON DEMAND 4th June: English with German subtitles

From a very early age, Isabel watched her mother, who was abandoned by her husband, provide for her three small children without “resources or voice”. Isabel was a fierce and defiant little girl, determined to fight for the life her mother couldn’t have. She became active in the women’s movement in the late 1960s. Among a tribe of like-minded female journalists, she for the first time felt comfortable in her own skin, writing “with a knife between their teeth”. And over the course of three marriages, she has learned how to grow as a woman in a relationship, how to fail and when to step away. Chilean author Isabel Allende became a global icon with her novel “The House of Spirits”. Now, in her passionate and inspiring memoir The Soul of A Woman, she looks back on her life and writes about her most important topic in this moving appeal by a great feminist. Host: Louis Klamroth
