In May 2017, Katja Hübner meets a helpless young man in Hamburg’s Schanzenviertel district. He lives rough in the patch of grass in front of her building and the words “Okay, Thanks, Ciao” are initially his only reaction to the cigarettes Hübner gives him. She does not know how to help a homeless person and if he even wants help. Nevertheless, she resolves to get Marc off the street before winter. She learns the story of his life and his suffering, and about his past as a musician. She makes contact with his family and eventually with the psychiatrist Prof. Thomas Bock, who teaches her a lot about gestalt psychology and the consequences of mental illness. This is an impressive tale of life’s pitfalls, the power of helping and the possibility of a second chance in life. We are presenting this event in collaboration with the Cologne Bahnhofsmission, a charitable organization for helping those in need at the rail station. It will be hosted by Bettina Rust.
