Born in 1940, Annie Ernaux is one of the most important French-language writers of our time. Her 20 novels have been a hit with both critics and readers. She consistently interweaves personal memories with sociological observations, creating a universal chronicle of our times. For her novel “The Years″, she was awarded the Prix Marguerite Duras and the Prix François Mauriac. She was also granted an honorary doctorate from the University of Cergy-Pontoise in 2014.
