Philipp Winkler

Born in 1986, Philipp Winkler grew up in Hagenburg, near Hanover. He studied literary writing in Hildesheim and spent time abroad in Kosovo and Japan. For his debut novel “HOOL”, he received the ZDF aspekte Literature Award for Best German-language debut, was short-listed for the German Book Prize and was invited to the Festival Neue Literatur in New York. The novel was a Der Spiegel best seller, translated into several languages and turned into a stage play. A film adaptation is being developed. Philipp Winkler lives in Leipzig.
