Monika Helfer

Born in 1947 in Au in Bregenzerwald, Monika Helfer has written numerous novels, stories and children’s books. Her work has won awards such as the Robert Musil Scholarship, the Austrian Award for Outstanding Achievements in Literature, and the Solothurn Literature Prize. She was nominated for the German Book Prize for her novel Schau mich an, wenn ich mit dir rede (2017). For Die Bagage (novel, 2020) she received the City of Aaalen’s Schubart Literature Prize 2021. Her latest publication was the novel Vati(2021), for which she was once again nominated for the German Book Prize. The writer lives with her family in Vorarlberg.
