Born in Stuttgart in 1964, Denis Scheck has worked as a literary agent, radio journalist, translator and publisher (of Michael Chabon, Robert Stone, Harold Brodkey, Ruth Rendell and David Foster Wallace, among others). Today he works as a freelance critic and since 2003 has been the host of the ARD literary magazine show “Druckfrisch” as well as the SWR programs “Lesenswert” and “Lesenswert Quartett”. He has won numerous honors for his work, including the Julius Campe Prize in 2015, the Hildegard von Bingen Prize in 2014 and the Bavarian Television Award in 2013. Furthermore, he received a special Hanns Joachim Friedrichs Prize in 2012 and the German Television Award in 2011. Scheck has authored a diverse range of non-fiction books.
